All in one day. No room for error, Knoll and Záruba know ahead of the Lausitzring weekend

Unusually on a Friday and in an equally unusual “all-in-one-day” format. The third round of the Central European circuit championship heads to the Lausitzring, where Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra will be looking to confirm the dominant form they showed at the start of the season.

Reigning Czech champions Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba will once again line up for the endurance race. After securing their second win last weekend and strengthening their title defence, the pair now aim to take another step forward at the Lausitzring. “We can’t afford to underestimate anything, especially with the entire programme packed into Friday,” warned team manager Jiří Mičánek. “We’ll hit the track for the first time at half past eleven for free practice just five hours before the race start so it’s going to be something of a sprint for the mechanics.”

The team will benefit from Knoll and Záruba’s experience on the track from last year. With so little time on the circuit before the race, they have also been preparing in the simulator. “As recently as Wednesday, Pepa and I were training,” says Jakub Knoll. “We waited a long time for the season to start, which makes the build-up even more intense. We know the Lausitzring from last year — it’s a very technical track with plenty of bumps, but I really enjoy it.”

Despite his extensive experience, Josef Záruba made his debut at the Lausitzring last year. “It’s a beautiful circuit in its own way, with a banked corner and a very bumpy surface,” the driver explains. “Kuba and I are firing on all cylinders this year, and we intend to keep it that way,” he adds.

Jiří Mičánek confirms this as well. “We’ll be skipping the next race weekend in Poznań due to a clash with the GT2 European Series, so it’s crucial for us to finish all the remaining rounds without mistakes.”
