The second round of the Central European circuit series faces an unusual format. The endurance race at the Slovakia Ring will run alongside the European Truck Racing Championship, with Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba aiming for their second win of the season.

The reigning champions will be looking to build on their victory at the Red Bull Ring and take another step towards defending their title. “We tested at the Slovakia Ring earlier this year and know the track well. We’re looking forward to enjoying the weekend in front of packed grandstands,” says Jiří Mičánek.

The GTC field will take the start immediately after the podium ceremony for the first truck race — on Saturday at 16:15. The race is unusually scheduled as a three-hour event, though part of the grid will run a one-hour format required for championship classification. This will also apply to the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team.

„We’ll be focusing mainly on ourselves, with targets certainly set on year-on-year improvement. We want to get better,” says Jakub Knoll. He also notes that the weather at the Slovakia Ring is expected to be very hot. “It will be demanding both for physical fitness and tyre endurance. But this kind of weather is normal in Slovakia, so we’re used to it,” he adds.

Normally, the Central European championship field doesn’t arrive at the Slovakia Ring until August. This year will be the same, with the June round inserted unusually between the truck races. “I’m glad the season has finally started and we’re getting into the rhythm. We waited a long time for the first race, but now it’s all coming thick and fast,” says Josef Záruba. He’s also looking forward to the atmosphere. “Truck racing weekends are like a festival. I’m excited for the great mood and the lively music.”
