Three races, three podiums: Jiří Mičánek’s team kicks off the Central European circuit season with a winning start

The final piece in the puzzle of a successful season start for Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra is in place. The team takes home a first-place trophy from both the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe and hill climb events, as well as from the opening round of the Central European circuit championship. Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba dominated the endurance race, while Libor Dvořáček claimed third in the sprint races.

„What more could we ask for from the start of the season than to win every event we enter?” says team manager Jiří Mičánek Jr. At the new Balaton Park circuit, he guided the Knoll-Záruba pairing to victory in the GTC category, with the crew finishing fourth overall. In the second race, Libor Dvořáček fought for second place but ultimately finished third after a driving error.

Jakub Knoll returned to the wheel of the team’s Lamborghini Huracán ST EVO2 after a four-year hiatus, having to adapt both to the more powerful car and the new circuit. “I didn’t feel as confident as I expected, but thanks to Pepa, I got a reference point to work from, which I’ll also be able to use in the next race,” the driver reflects on the weekend. He started Saturday’s hour-long race from fourth position, which he lost towards the end of his stint. Záruba managed to regain fourth and even closed in on Miro Konopka in the Huracán GT3. “I knew my only chance to get past him was if he made a mistake—but that doesn’t happen with such an experienced driver,” notes Záruba. The pair finished the race in fourth overall but took victory in the GTC class. “I’m not entirely happy with my own performance, but overall I’d assess the weekend positively, both in terms of results and how the car performed,” concludes Knoll.

Libor Dvořáček also celebrated a trophy, having moved to the ESET Cup after five seasons in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. He, too, had to get acquainted with the new circuit. “In the first race, I was mostly getting into the rhythm, but in the second I felt much better. After the start, I got past Konopka and Dennis Waszek, who was leading our class. Gradually, I was able to open a gap to third place, but then I made a mistake and spun,” Dvořáček explains. He also finished third in the second race.

Jiří Mičánek praises not only his drivers’ results but the entire team. “We were racing on a completely new circuit with a new driver lineup. We managed to gather the necessary data very quickly, and in the race we delivered a strong performance, which earned us three trophies,” Mičánek concludes.

The Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra colours were also seen in the supporting Twingo Cup race, where Broněk Formánek, Tomáš Mičánek, Štefan Rosina, and Josef Záruba competed “for fun,” joined by other top drivers – the Sládečka brothers and Dennis Waszek. Their battles provided a great spectacle for the fans, with the best result on the unfamiliar track and in an unfamiliar car producing just 78 hp coming from Samuel Sládečka, who finished third on Sunday. Tomáš Mičánek took fourth on Saturday. “I have to say, the hardest part of the whole weekend was switching from the Twingo to the Huracán, which I drove a minute faster,” Josef Záruba concludes with a laugh.
