Opportunity for New Drivers: Jiří Mičánek Sr. Kicks Off the Season with a Circuit School

12/03/2024

Learning the Basics of Circuit Racing and Obtaining a License. These are the two main goals for “rookies” attending the circuit school. Jiří Mičánek Sr., a multiple-time circuit champion of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic, is hosting the school from 15th to 17th March at the Brno Automotodrom.

Participants will be personally guided by Jiří Mičánek, the team’s founder and a man whose name has been etched into Czechoslovak motorsport history for over half a century. “During the course, participants will acquire all the skills and knowledge needed to obtain a Czech circuit racing license,” explains Jiří Mičánek.

The intensive course is divided into theoretical and practical parts, with the curriculum adhering to the requirements of the Czech Automobile Sport Federation. “Participants will be trained in sporting regulations and technical rules, as well as race preparation methods and, of course, basic first aid,” lists Jiří Mičánek, who has been running the circuit school for over 30 years and has guided hundreds of future successful racers.

The theoretical part then culminates with a track walkthrough, during which license candidates go over, in detail with the instructor, aspects such as negotiating different types of corners. Jiří Mičánek also places emphasis on standing starts, their requirements, and procedures. The theoretical segment concludes with written tests, the successful completion of which opens the door to the practical part of the training.

„The goal of the practical training is primarily to master basic racing habits and maneuvers, get accustomed to flag signals, and learn to respond correctly to extraordinary situations that may occur during a race,” Jiří Mičánek explains.

The team allows participants to complete the school with their own car, provided it meets all racing standards – equipped with a roll cage, fire extinguisher, and a seat with six-point harnesses. Participants without their own car can use the team’s proven Ford Puma training cars from Mičánek Motorsport.

Successful graduates receive a diploma at the end of the course, which, after completing the necessary administrative formalities, allows them to obtain a national racing license issued by the Autoclub of the Czech Republic.
