Huracán takes on the prototypes: dominant Tomáš Mičánek wins Brněnský drak

Tomáš Mičánek dominated Group 2 at Brněnský drak, the traditional finale to the hillclimb season held at the Masaryk Circuit. The 34-year-old Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra driver won his class in all four runs and also delivered an impressive result in the overall standings.

On Saturday, when the second run took place in wet conditions and driving skill mattered more than outright car performance, Tomáš Mičánek finished third overall, beaten only by single-seater prototypes. “Third overall is our best result of the season. Congratulations to Tomáš. I’m delighted that he got back into the car and immediately managed to deliver such a great result,” says his brother Jiří Mičánek Jr., who competed in three hillclimb events this year, including the European Championship round at Šternberk. Jiří handed over the seat to Tomáš for Brno after the birth of his daughter on Thursday, choosing to spend the weekend with his family.

Brněnský drak marked Tomáš’s return to the Huracán after two years, as well as his hillclimb debut. “I have to say the car worked absolutely brilliantly. Thanks to the team for preparing it so well. And of course, thanks to Jura for giving me the opportunity to get back behind the wheel,” says Tomáš Mičánek.

Jiří Mičánek’s decision to put his brother in the car certainly paid off. Tomáš was particularly impressive in Saturday’s second run, held in wet conditions. Across the two runs, he finished a combined 11.5 seconds ahead of his closest class rival, while trailing the fastest single-seater by less than four seconds. In the second run alone, the Huracán finished less than a second behind cars that were, on paper, considerably faster. On Sunday, Tomáš confirmed his Group 2 victory and finished fourth overall.

Brněnský drak brought the team’s domestic season to a close. In just a few days, both team Huracáns will head to Monza, where the final round of Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe gets under way in ten days’ time. Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra has a chance to claim European titles in two classes.
