Two race weekends in one. That is what awaits at the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season finale. The final round of the European championship at Monza will be followed by the World Final, bringing together the best drivers from the continental series. Mičánek Motorsport has the chance to complete a historic season – with two European titles within reach, the team is also hoping to add a world title to its collection.
The European champions will be crowned on Thursday and Friday. The maths is straightforward. The two Lamborghini Huracáns in Czech national colours head into the final Lamborghini Super Trofeo round as clear favourites in the Pro-Am and AM classes.
“We have a very comfortable lead with both cars, but on the other hand, anything can happen. All our previous successes have been built on consistency and patiently collecting points, one by one. That’s all we need to do now,” says team manager Jiří Mičánek Jr. ahead of the final Lamborghini Super Trofeo round of the season.
Bronislav Formánek and Anthony Pretorius hold a 25-point lead in Pro-Am, while Jakub Knoll and Renaud Kuppens are 15 points clear in AM. “Mathematically speaking, we have two chances to finish at least fourth in Pro-Am. If we manage that, one title is ours. In AM, we need to finish in the top five in both races, or win one of them. That would secure the title there as well,” explains Jiří Mičánek.
After winning Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe in 2024 and the GT2 European Series in 2025, the team is not even feeling nervous. “We’re calm. We have a safe lead. But we also know that nothing is guaranteed until we see the chequered flag,” he warns.
All the drivers are approaching the most important weekend of the season with similar composure. “We tested at Monza before the season and we’ll have more testing before the race. I hope we can make the most of that. We need to avoid unnecessary risks,” says Anthony Pretorius. “We’ll have two chances to seal the title, but that doesn’t mean it’s already in the bag. Personally, I want to take a safer approach in the first race and avoid unnecessary risks,” adds Broněk Formánek, echoing his team-mate.
Jakub Knoll and Renaud Kuppens have slightly more work to do to secure their title. Even so, they could theoretically settle the championship in the opening race. To guarantee it, however, they would need to win. “Nervous? No, I’m not. It’s not the first time I’ve been fighting for a championship,” laughs Renaud Kuppens.
“The important thing is that Jakub likes Monza. I want to pick up where we left off in Barcelona, where I was fighting with cars driven by professional drivers,” says Kuppens, recalling their most recent victory. “Monza is my favourite circuit on this year’s Super Trofeo calendar. I hope I can perform well because there’s a lot at stake for us. We have a solid championship lead, but nothing is certain yet, so I have to approach it responsibly. The weather could once again play a part, so we’ll see whether we can make use of the testing we did at Monza in March,” explains Jakub Knoll.
While all the drivers feel prepared for the European season finale, they approach the weekend’s World Final with greater nerves. A prestigious title will be decided over just two races, bringing together competitors from the different continental series. “It’s a completely different game. Nobody is fighting for championship points here. The racing is much more aggressive, with drivers who don’t know each other competing on the same track,” Jiří Mičánek explains, outlining what makes the World Final so different.
The team’s best result in the prestigious event so far is third place. This year, however, they believe they can improve on that. Ideally, they would like to add the one title still missing from their collection – a world title. “The European finale is just one race out of twelve. The World Final is something special, and we’ll all be under a lot of pressure,” predicts Anthony Pretorius. “I see it as something extra. It’s difficult for me to judge the competition in AM because we’ll also be facing drivers from America and Asia,” says Jakub Knoll.
Motorsport fans will once again be able to watch both European championship finale races live on television, with coverage on Prima Sport. The first race takes place on Thursday at 16:45, followed by the second on Friday at 12:30.
