A narrow lead at the top of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe standings for Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra? After the fourth round at the Nürburgring, that’s no longer the case. Bronislav Formánek and Štefan Rosina stood on the podium in both races, and with a first and second place finish, they pulled clear of their rivals in the overall standings.
One race in the rain, the other in dry conditions, and an unpredictable qualifying session – the Nürburgring delivered a hectic weekend for nearly fifty crews in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe series. Yet the team led by Jiří Mičánek Jr. managed to make the most of it. “We’ve confirmed our position at the top of the championship and shown that, as long as nothing unexpected happens, we’re among the best teams on the grid,” says Jiří Mičánek. He is referring in particular to the fact that the fourth round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe series finally passed without any unusual incidents – no safety car deployments or red flags.
The race also suited Bronislav Formánek perfectly. “I didn’t want to say it beforehand and jinx anything, but Nürburgring is my favourite circuit, and I believed we could make the podium here,” said a champagne-soaked Formánek after the second race. In the first race, he and Rosina had to contend with heavy rain, but the experienced pair made the most of it. Starting the race, Formánek maintained a very strong position and handed the car over to Rosina right on the edge of the podium places. The Slovak driver then produced a brilliant chase, securing a PRO-AM class victory for the team, complemented by a top-ten finish overall.
In the second race, Rosina played a key role. Due to the qualifying format on Saturday, which took place on a drying track, a line of slower AM and LC Cup drivers stood in front of the Slovak veteran at the start. Rosina, however, expertly weaved past most of them, gaining ten positions in the opening lap alone. “Broněk took over and, with his typically flawless driving, brought it home in second place. That secured our lead at the top of the championship – what more could you ask for?” Rosina reflected on the race weekend.
The second crew competing in the PRO class also had to contend with unpredictable conditions. Jáchym Galáš got the first race off to a strong start, moving past several rivals and handing the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra Lamborghini Huracán ST EVO2 over to Matěj Pavlíček near the top ten in the premier category. On the wet track, Pavlíček then focused on finding his rhythm and ultimately crossed the finish line in fifteenth place.
In the second race, Pavlíček faced the same challenge at the start as Štefan Rosina, who was also starting from that row. While the experienced Slovak chose the inside line off the line, Pavlíček tried to pass the slower cars on the outside. “It was fifty-fifty, and unfortunately it didn’t work out. Several cars made contact in the corner, and I got caught up in it too. I fought for every position after that, but many drivers were using very sharp elbows,” Pavlíček described the unlucky start. After the driver change, the order shuffled, and Jáchym Galáš gradually made his way through the field, ultimately finishing 13th in the PRO category.
„This weekend was finally all about the racing everyone hopes for. No accidents, no safety car deployments, no extreme weather – even though we had one race in the rain. It was just pure racing, and the guys showed that we’re capable of running at the front. Our goal this year is to win the Pro-AM championship, and so far it’s going well – let’s hope we don’t jinx it,” concluded team manager Jiří Mičánek.
