These colours will be familiar mainly to followers of circuit racing. The Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 of one of the Czech Republic’s leading rally drivers will sport the livery of Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra for the traditional Prague rally celebration. The design takes its cues from the team’s Lamborghini Huracán ST EVO2 cars, with which Jiří Mičánek’s squad dominated this year’s GT2 European Series.
“We have been considering an expansion into other areas of motorsport for some time. At the moment we are strong on both the European and domestic circuit racing scene, and in the Czech Republic we also compete in hillclimbs. Rallying is a natural direction for us, a place where we can take our brand further,” explains team manager Jiří Mičánek jr.
“Our teams share the fact that we are successful on the international stage. That is one of the reasons why this partnership makes perfect sense,” says Orsák Rally Sport team manager Jaroslav Orsák.
The Škoda Fabia RS Rally2’s special livery was created by the Zlín-based studio Rally Design, taking its cues from the Lamborghini Huracán ST EVO2. The colours and graphic themes stay true to the look of the cars with which Jiří Mičánek’s team secured this year’s GT2 European Series title and claimed two wins in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. “I think it’s a really smart design, very eye-catching. I’m looking forward to seeing how the fans respond,” says Dominik Stříteský.
He will debut the new car for fans across three stages, with the highlight in terms of pure spectacle being the traditional circuit around the Strahov stadium. “The Rallysprint is all about putting on a show, a season-end treat for us and for the spectators. For the hardcore rally crowd, the stage around the cement works is the real draw. And it’s far from easy,” the driver explains.
Although Stříteský expects to drive largely by sight, Jiří Šlégl in the co driver’s seat will be ready with the notes. “This isn’t my first brush with rallying. I’ve written pace notes before, so I’m happy to dive straight in. And I’m expecting only one thing: a win in the colours of Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra,” says the CNN Prima News presenter with a smile, who also works as a racing commentator.
Jiří Mičánek himself won’t miss the debut in the new discipline. “I’m looking forward to the atmosphere and the close contact with the fans, which in rallying—as in hillclimb events—is much more direct than on circuits. And I believe Dominik will be another of our drivers to stand on the podium in our team colours this year.”
