Jiří Mičánek completed his second hillclimb race weekend of the 2026 season with a pair of second-place finishes in Group 2 and the sixth-fastest time overall at the legendary Ústecká 21. Driving the Lamborghini Huracán, he was able to challenge not only fellow GT machinery but also open-cockpit prototypes and single-seaters.

With the exception of a single year away, the 21-corner course at Ústí nad Orlicí has been a regular fixture on Mičánek’s calendar since 2022. On the famous route that winds through the forest towards the Andrlův Chlum lookout tower, he has always recorded one of the three fastest times. The 2026 edition was no exception.

“Given the class structure, second place is the best result we can realistically achieve. I’m delighted that we were comfortably the fastest GT car in the field and that we were able to compete with the single-seaters as well, especially here in Ústí where the course is particularly technical,” said the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team manager and driver.

Mičánek’s best time of the weekend, 2:02.920, came in the final of the five timed competition runs. The next fastest rear-wheel-drive GT car needed more than two additional seconds to complete the 3.65-kilometre course, which features an elevation gain of 222 metres.

As always, Mičánek enjoyed the unique atmosphere and enthusiastic crowd support in Ústí nad Orlicí.
“Every year more and more fans come over to see me here, which makes this event incredibly special. I was also very pleased to meet Mrs Urbanová again and present her with a bouquet,” says Mičánek, referring to a long-standing tradition connected to the family of Miroslav Urban, who organised the event for many years and is now commemorated through the race memorial. “My father was a close friend of Mr Urban. I used to spend holidays here, so coming back always feels a bit like coming home. And it’s wonderful that so many of the fans see me as one of their own.”

Mičánek’s spring hillclimb campaign will conclude during the first weekend of June with a round of the European Hill Climb Championship at Ecce Homo in Šternberk. It will mark his first appearance at the legendary event. “I’ve been thinking about doing this race for many years and always saw it as a personal milestone. This year, for the first time, it finally fits into our schedule. I’m approaching it with enormous humility and respect, both for the course itself and for the highly competitive field of experienced drivers,” concludes the Mičánek Motorsport team principal.
