First race, first victory: Jiří Mičánek dominates home hill-climb season opener

The first victory of the season for Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra goes to team manager Jiří Mičánek jr., who triumphed at the home hill-climb event on the Masaryk Circuit. Driving the Lamborghini Huracán in the team’s new livery, he dominated his category.

Jiří Mičánek completed the track running counterclockwise from the Schwantz corner along the Masaryk Circuit to its highest point in a best time of 1:12.480. In the fastest run, he beat the second-fastest driver in the over-3000 cc, single-axle category, Martin Jerman, by 2.44 seconds. In the overall classification, only single-seaters finished ahead of him, with one exception. “The Maverick Hill Climb series once again proved its strength and competitive field. I’m glad we managed to stay so high up and claim our first victory,” commented Jiří Mičánek, who was greeted in the pits by numerous guests, including legendary singer Jožka Černý, a family friend of the Mičáneks.

During the race weekend, Jiří Mičánek also unveiled his new helmet – the first of several he plans to use this year. His previous helmet was auctioned off in January at a charity event, raising 2,615,000 CZK for the Brno-based children’s home Klokánek. The new design, inspired by the colours and motifs of Niki Lauda’s helmets, was created by one of the Czech Republic’s top airbrush artists, Jakub Paleček from EXD studio. “I decided to have several designs made this year, always commissioning the best designers in the Czech Republic,” explains Jiří Mičánek, who saw the new helmet for the first time just before taking it onto the Masaryk Circuit. “Each of these designs will be unique; for this one, I drew inspiration from Niki Lauda and his fluorescent red.”

The hill climb season will continue in Náměšť nad Oslavou on the first weekend of May. But in less than two weeks, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo season kicks off at Imola, where the team will field two new driver pairings – Bronislav Formánek with Štefan Rosina, and Jáchym Galáš with Matěj Pavlíček.
