The finest drivers from the three continental Lamborghini Super Trofeo series will battle it out this weekend at Misano for the prestigious World Final crown. Among them will be Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra, taking part not only in the World Final itself but also in the concluding round of the European series earlier in the weekend.
“It’s another great opportunity for us to return to the Lamborghini Super Trofeo paddock. Originally, we only planned to enter as wildcards at the Nürburgring, but in the end, we’ve taken part in more than half the season,” notes team manager Jiří Mičánek Jr.
Formánek and Rosina already competed in the Super Trofeo Europe round at Barcelona, switching from the GT2 European Series where they had secured the European title ahead of schedule. In Barcelona, they dominated one of the Pro-AM races and finished third in the other.
They’re hoping for another trip to the podium in Misano, though both drivers know it will be an exceptionally tough challenge. “We did race here in the summer in the GT2 European Series, but for many teams this is their home circuit — they know it inside out. I think any podium finish would be a great result for us,” estimates Bronislav Formánek ahead of the four days of racing. Štefan Rosina shares the same view: “Just like in the previous races we’ve entered, we have to approach this one with humility.”
Together with Rosina, Formánek will first go up against familiar rivals from the European series, whose sixth round is scheduled for Thursday and Friday. Over the weekend, the world’s fastest one-make championship will reach its climax with the World Final, featuring the best drivers from the European, North American, and Asian branches of the series and the Czech-Slovak duo will be right there on the grid.
“Some of the best drivers currently competing in the various series are the same ones we raced against in previous European seasons. Beating them will be extremely tough, but it’s a huge challenge for us — and a great opportunity to try and finish this season with success on a global stage,” says Jiří Mičánek.
The team will be reinforced in Misano by engineer Miguel Cara Flor, who has worked with Jiří Mičánek’s drivers in previous seasons. He will form the usual engineering duo alongside Josef Záruba. “I’m looking forward to the fresh perspective he’ll bring, and my role will be to keep the team spirit balanced. As far as I know, Miguel hasn’t worked with Štefan before, but I’m confident that even in such strong competition, we can achieve a great result,” says Záruba.
Over the weekend, Lamborghini Super Trofeo will also crown this year’s champions — the successors to the duo of Formánek and Rosina, who dominated the European series this season. At the official gala evening, Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra will take the stage to receive their trophy for winning the GT2 European Series — a title they claimed this year, marking Lamborghini’s first-ever triumph in the championship.
