The maths are clear. Two races, and the team needs just one more point than their closest rivals to clinch the title. That’s the equation that could see Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra series their first-ever European crown in the prestigious Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. Bronislav Formánek and Štefan Rosina will be fighting for it on Thursday and Friday.
„We’ve given everything in the fight for the title. We were at private tests in Jerez two weeks ago, and even now we’re making the most of every hour we can spend on track,” outlines team manager Jiří Mičánek jr., explaining the recipe for claiming the PRO-AM championship. The same approach applies to the team’s Lamborghini Huracán ST EVO2, car number 11, which will receive a full complement of new parts ahead of the season’s final Lamborghini Super Trofeo round.
The crucial two races are set for Thursday and Friday. With a 14.5-point lead over Roee Meyuhas and Renaud Kuppens from Boutsen VDS, Jiří Mičánek’s team needs to finish at least one position ahead of their rivals in either race to surpass the 15-point threshold awarded for a win. “We’ll try to secure it on Thursday and have the title wrapped up. We’re approaching it with humility and full preparation, but luck will also play a part,” says Bronislav Formánek. He praised the Jerez circuit following the tests, but also warned that overtaking will be extremely difficult. „Once again, qualifying will be very important. It’s possible to drive very defensively here, but overtaking is very difficult.“
Štefan Rosina, a two-time European runner-up, is approaching the title fight with almost reverent focus. The experienced driver has seen the championship slip through his fingers twice before. “I’m approaching this with the utmost humility, and we’ll do everything we can to secure the title. I’m really looking forward to it,” says Rosina.
The “juniors” have also completed their tests at Jerez – the PRO-class duo of Jáchym Galáš and Matěj Pavlíček. “For me, Jerez is one of the three best circuits I’ve ever experienced – it’s fast but very challenging,” says Galáš, who made his debut on the famous Andalusian track during the tests. Together with Pavlíček, he aims to build on their top-ten finish in Barcelona. They hope to make the most of the Jerez tests. “Compared to arriving here and jumping straight into free practice, it’s definitely an advantage. On the other hand, we’re certainly not the only ones who have tested here,” Galáš notes. Matěj Pavlíček shares his enthusiasm for the circuit, which currently hosts MotoGP and previously saw F1 races. “It’s going to be very demanding, with so many cars and four races ahead. But I’m really looking forward to it and hope we can finish as high as possible in both the European series and the World Final,” he adds.
He also points out that Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra will remain in Jerez after Friday’s final race. Over the weekend, both crews will take part in the World Superfinal, where the best from the three continental Lamborghini Super Trofeo championships will go head-to-head – alongside the European elite, the grid will feature crews from Asia and North America. The juniors, who aren’t focused on the title, are particularly looking forward to measuring themselves against the global competition. “I’m curious to see the comparison – what kind of performance gap there will be between us, or if there will be any at all,” says Galáš.
The championship contenders are fully focused on the final races of the European series. “The World Superfinal is always a special opportunity to go up against drivers we don’t know. It’s a unique kind of racing that we can enjoy at the end of the season without worrying about points in the title fight. We’re looking forward to it, but until Friday it feels very far away, and our attention is entirely on the final European round and the battle for the championship,” concludes Jiří Mičánek.
