The Czech Championship Title is Within Reach. The Jakub Knoll–Josef Záruba pairing, racing for Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra, could take a crucial step toward securing it this weekend at the Slovakia Ring. This marks the second visit of the Central European Circuit Championship to the venue this season.
“We’re returning to the track where we’ve already secured a win this year and also completed our pre-season testing. Our goal is to maintain a perfect record and, in the GTC class, to reinforce our status as favourites in the fight to defend the Czech endurance championship,” said team manager Jiří Mičánek Jr. ahead of the race weekend.
Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba dominated the Slovak track back in the spring, but this time the GTC class will present stiffer competition. Compared to the last round in Most, where the reigning Czech champions were in complete control, the lineup of rivals remains the same. “The Slovakia Ring is the circuit where we’ve put in the most mileage this year, and we’ll be aiming to maintain our perfect record,” said Mičánek ahead of the endurance race.
Jakub Knoll is looking forward to the second race at his favourite track. “I hope we can build on the result we achieved here two months ago. We’re facing stronger competition, which also means more battles on track — much like in the last race at Most,” said the 34-year-old reigning Czech champion.
The race in Most confirmed Knoll’s improving form. His teammate and coach, Josef Záruba, believes that this trend will continue at the Slovakia Ring. “Kuba has been meeting his personal goals this season, and I’m confident he’ll be quick in Slovakia as well — it’s a track he enjoys and knows well,” said Záruba, who, together with Knoll, capped off last season in Brno by claiming the Czech championship title.
At Slovakia, the duo has the chance to take a step toward defending their title just two weeks ahead of the home race in Brno. “Our goal is to secure the crucial points so that we can fully enjoy the home race and celebrate a second consecutive title at the Masaryk Circuit,” concluded Jiří Mičánek.
