Freshly crowned GT2 European Series champions Bronislav Formánek and Štefan Rosina are set to return to the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe for the season finale – a championship they dominated last year. Facing a grid of more than thirty Lamborghini Huracán machines, the duo will be looking to build on their impressive wildcard appearance at the Nürburgring, where they stormed to victory.

“We had planned to compete in the Super Trofeo round at Barcelona for quite some time, but the condition was that we’d have to secure the GT2 title in Valencia first. We managed that — by the narrowest of margins,” says Jiří Mičánek jr., manager of Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra. “This weekend feels a bit like a reward for us. We’re really looking forward to racing against such a competitive field.”

“Since we’re not competing for the championship and don’t need to collect points, it gives us a bit more freedom to really race,” Mičánek explained. “We’ll be aiming to build on our Nürburgring result, where we entered as wildcards and won our very first race in the Pro-Am class.”

For Formánek and Rosina, the race in Barcelona marks a return to the scene of last year’s success, when they claimed victory in one of the three weekend races and secured crucial points in their eventual title bid. “Barcelona suits us well – it’s one of my favourite circuits – so we’ll be pushing for the top spots, ideally not just in our class, but in the overall standings too,” says Formánek.

Rosina shares a similar outlook, recalling last year’s success when, like Formánek, he qualified in fifth place. “We’ll be looking to confirm the form we showed at the Nürburgring,” says the Slovak driver, who, together with Formánek, claimed the GT2 European Series title just three weeks ago.

“Barcelona has suited us well in recent years. Three seasons ago, we scored our first-ever double win in the Super Trofeo Europe here, and last year we took another victory — a crucial step on our way to the title,” Mičánek summed up.
