The first race of the 2024 season for Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra takes place at the traditional Brno Dragon – the hill climb at the Masaryk Circuit in Brno. Jiří Mičánek aims to kick off the hill climb season, which complements the circuit championships, with a strong bid for victory.
More than 140 competitors will take part in the opening round of the Maverick Hill Climb series on a course set up in reverse on the Masaryk Circuit. The start is under the Schwantz corner, and the finish lies 2,435 metres further on and 73 metres higher – at the highest point of the track beneath Tribune A. “For us, this is the first race of the season, and it’s at home. The weather looks great so far, so we shouldn’t expect a wet track or the usual morning fog this year,” says Jiří Mičánek Jr., looking forward especially to Sunday, when three race runs are scheduled and the forecast predicts 23 °C with partly cloudy skies.
The season’s prologue promises an exciting battle across all categories. “Thanks to the run-off areas, Brno allows for more edge-of-control driving compared to other tracks. Combine that with good weather, and it means racing at the very limit,” explains Jiří Mičánek. In his category, he will face competitors such as Martin Jerman, who is also driving a Lamborghini Huracán. “We’ll see how the final entry list shapes up, but my goal is clearly to fight for victory and to finish as high as possible in the overall standings,” says the driver ahead of his home event, which is set to welcome numerous team partners and fans.
For Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra, the weekend marks a sharp start to the season, which will focus primarily on the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe series and, to a lesser extent, the FIA CEZ Central European international championship. “At the moment, we plan to race the Zámecký vrch hill climb in Náměšť nad Oslavou at the beginning of May. The Ústecká 21 event clashes with circuit races, but I’ll do everything I can to make it there. It’s a race close to my heart, and fans are already asking if I’ll be competing,” explains Jiří Mičánek. He adds that unless something unexpected happens, the team will split, with some drivers heading to the “jednadvacítka.” The 2024 hill climb season is planned to conclude in mid-October, once again in Brno.
